Haere Mai - Welcome

We believe that children are citizens of our community and have the right to a welcoming, safe, stimulating, affirming and challenging environment that enables them to develop and learn at their own pace.

Our Philosophy

We follow the Early Childhood Curriculum, principle of Te Whariki and current research to enhance learning outcomes. It enables us to provide equitable learning opportunities for children by acknowledging individuality, interests, passions, needs, abilities and strengths of each child.

We believe teaching should strengthen children’s capabilities and competencies so that they can lead their own learning. We aim to empower and support them during their learning journeys. We encourage them to communicate, make positive choices and take responsibility for their actions.

We recognise the importance of the Treaty of Waitangi – Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commit ourselves to its three principles (Partnership, Protection and Participation) by acknowledging New Zealand’s bi-cultural heritage throughout the programme.

We value an inclusive environment where diversity is embraced. People of all backgrounds, abilities and cultures are welcomed and respected in our community. We value partnerships with parents and whanau which support positive learning outcome for children.

Team planning is an important part of our practice which is based around noticing, recognising and responding; review of practice and the role of our environment in children’s learning and development.

We believe that ongoing professional development, both personal and as a team is essential to refining and enhancing our teaching practices.
