I am a father of six, who lives in Hobsonville Point. My two youngest children both attend the fantastic Hobsonville Point Early Learning Centre. I am active in my local community having previously served on the Hobsonville Point Residents Society and currently leading the parent committee at HPELC.
I am thrilled to become a board member for Kaitiaki Kindergartens and to help build upon the great position that it is in – delivering life changing foundations for children in the communities it serves.
I have 30 years of experience in the Insurance profession, across two continents and in many differing roles. I also have a strong background in governance and process management which I believe will serve the Association well coupled with the right skill set to help the Board set a strong strategic plan that will see this Association flourish in the future.
I’m passionate about early childhood education and the wonderful learning environments Kaitiaki Kindergartens provides for our children. Kaitiaki Kindergartens has a long history in our communities and my husband and I both attended Torbay Kindergarten, so of course we wanted our two children to follow in our footsteps!
I was very involved in our kindergarten community over the 3 years we spent there and was the Kindergarten Committee President for almost two years. I enjoyed working with a group of like minded parents to achieve goals for the betterment of our kindergarten. When my kids had both started school, joining the board was a way for me to continue to be involved; helping to shape the future of Kaitiaki Kindergartens and ensure it will still be around for my children’s children. I am inspired to ensure that we respond to the needs of our families, while honouring the family based values of kindergarten and keeping the well-being and learning of our children at heart.
I am a teacher of English as a second language, and I work with many different nationalities who are making their home in NZ. I really value the community and sense of belonging that being part of a Kaitiaki Kindergartens service provides to all of our families. I’m proud to be involved with Kaitiaki Kindergartens and giving our children the very best start on their journey of lifelong learning!
Our family moved back to New Zealand in 2013 after being in the UK for more than 10 years. Since that time both my sons have attended the lovely Stanmore Bay Kindergarten for their early learning centre education prior to starting school – with my youngest child eagerly waiting to start!
I am a tertiary qualified communications specialist with 15 years of experience in marketing and communications, including 10 years at a well-established London Financial PR agency. My experience includes handling strategic communications and media affairs for law firms, financial associations, commodity funds, investment groups and many other financial institutions.
In 2015 I launched my NZ based consultancy business and currently provide communications advise and implementation across a range of sectors. I am delighted to be appointed as a board member for Kaitiaki Kindergartens and look forward to contributing to board decisions that will benefit our wonderful communities further.
I have been a Life Member of Northern Auckland Free Kindergarten Association for well over 20 years and a member for about 34 years. I have a passion for seeing this Association be the best it can be in order to service our young children throughout all our various communities that we inhabit.
I have been a Professional Firefighter since 1984 and a Station Officer since 2002.
I am able to comprehend and act within the constitution, be accountable to the membership and have a clear understanding and knowledge of the governance role of the board.
I am genuinely committed to the purpose, vision and goals of the Association, and as an appointed Board Member act lawfully, honestly and in good faith at all times to help make this Association be the best it can be.
I am a parent with my daughter attending Whangaparaoa Kindergarten. We live in a very special, multicultural environment and I wish to contribute to its continual success.
I have a keen interest in early childhood education, from the fantastic services currently provided, to the issues that can arise for children and parents. I came to Auckland from France at the age of 4 and have been here ever since.
With 20 years’ experience in online communication and enjoy facilitating conversation, I also have years of experience in management, project and events management and marketing. I have a double degree in Marketing and French and have worked in sales, marketing and management roles. I currently work in Parliamentary Communications as a Research and Policy Assistant and MP Support for the East Coast Bays Electoral Office.
Kia ora, my name is Jo Hough. I am a mother of two young pre-school aged girls. I have been in education for 20 years. I first started out in ECE and 6 years on I moved into the primary sector. After completing a masters in education in 2011 my specialist area is teaching Year 6 and managing the senior primary school. Throughout my time in management, I have been Head of Literacy, Head of E-Learning and Digital Technologies as well as Sports Co-ordinator at the primary level. I am new to Kaitiaki Kindergartens as a parent of my eldest daughter who goes to Rangitoto Kindergarten since term 1 of 2019. With my educational background, becoming a board member is a way to give back to my local area and education as a whole. Murrays Bay is home and a large number of neighbouring children and families attend the three Kaitiaki Kindergartens in my area. I went to school in this area also. I see it as a privilege to be involved in a large not for profit organisation where I can make a difference.
I am a dad who has a young daughter attending Massey University Auckland Early Learning Centre. Every day I see first-hand the benefits that she gains from attending this wonderful ELC – from friendships to skills learnt. I am employed as a Facility and Events Manager for Netball North Harbour and have been employed in the sports/events industry for over 15 years. I can demonstrate extensive management experience in the following areas: management, property, council and risk management. This has resulted in a broad spectrum of skills and knowledge which are directly applicable to being a very capable board member and President for Northern Auckland Free Kindergarten Association. In addition to this I am familiar in all planning, budgeting, compliance, registration, contract negotiation and health and safety. I have excellent communication skills and feel my role as President will help me give back to the Association and help all the centres to develop further in the future.
